Development and Implementation of Faults Location Algorithm with Graphic User Interface (GUI) in Radial Electric Power Distribution Network in Nigeria

چکیده

This paper reviews past efforts and develops faults locator algorithm based on the impedance method. The predicted fault currents were compared with fault currents for different nodes to obtain model equations for estimating fault locations. The model considered the non-homogenous overhead radial network typical of Nigeria distribution system. The model equation was compared with analytical method and real-life distribution system simulated by MATLAB/SIMULINK. The location accuracy of more than 90% of the pole spans was achieved. The developed model was implemented by integrating it with a Distribution Automation System. The application was incorporated with a graphical user interface.
